This Red-veined Meadowhawk, Sympetrum madidum , male was found in Kern Co. by Terri Gallion and Susan Steele along the Kern River at Audubon CA's Kern River Preserve, Weldon on 7-13-01. It is the documentation for that species in the county. The South Fork Kern River was very low then as it flowed through the Preserve, only one to three meters wide and ankle deep.
