Striped Sadlebags

These photos were taken on November 4, 2010 by Gary Suttle in Imperial County, across the road from Laguna Dam on S24
&/or along McKinnley Road, at a pond on the left (north) side of the road, 0.3 mile from the intersection of McKinnley Road and Senator Wash Road.
The behavior shown to the left is a posture that permits the Saddlebags to shade its abdomen,
using the saddlemark on its wings. This prevents overheating and allows the Saddlebags to stay
on territory for a greater length of time.
