Paddle-tailed Darner, Aeshna palmata
These are pictures taken on August 18, 2002 of a Paddle-tailed
Darner which we found floating, nearly drowned in Mosquito Lake
(not as bad a place as the name implied) in Alpine County, CA. We rescued
it and placed it in a fir tree.
He eventually warmed up and flew off.
Note the greenish face and stripes; shape of
appendages

Note the many blue spots and also that
