This male Canada Darner was netted, photographed and released near Weed, CA on private property.
The land had grassy, grazed meadows with water running into a pond at about 3100’ elevation.
The darner was found at about 1 pm on September 5, 2011 and was flying around above the grass.

The above photo shows the pale spots on the underside of the abdomen.
This was only the 3rd time a Canada Darner has been found in Siskiyou County, CA,
the other two times were close by, but nearer to Mt. Shasta City.
