I was just really tickled to get this picture of a Great Blue Heron which visited the pond Oct. 5. Our pond is fairly small and RIGHT next to our house so I'm surprised it came in to visit at all. I was in the kitchen, the window of which is right above the pond. The heron flew in over the house roof and I saw its tremendous wingspan totally fill the 4' window as it back-beat its wings coming in to land!!! When I saw what it was, I dropped to my knees and shuttled across the floor to where I keep my camera handy, and managed to squeeze off two shots before being seen and its leaving! So the shot is thru the window (as are most of my bird shots), hence the shine reflection.

I was a little worried about the two goldfish, but they survived the encounter.
